This past week I was trying to arrange a shoot for Sunday but it was getting too high maintenance and I wasn’t getting anywhere with confirmations. Frustrated… I gave up, but I still wanted to shoot. I sent out a few pings and Jennipher scooped up the opening. I emailed her some inspiration and ideas. She contacted Chikara at Rock Paper Scissors, enlisted some friends and took it from there. When a model does all of this, it makes my job sooooo much easier.

Totally worth it.

I first met Jennipher about 8 years ago when I was shooting her sister; now I’m shooting her. They grow up so fast.

We decided on a colorful “Saturday morning fun” theme. While getting props, I spent an hour in the candy & toy section of the store. Hopefully I just looked like a big kid playing around, not an old creepy guy restocking his supplies. But for real… when I was a kid, they didn’t have half the cool stuff I saw! I am tempted to go back, but I have a feeling that Chris Hansen is waiting for me.

With only about an hour to shoot in Amber, I still wanted to play with lighting because it was dark. I brought soft and spot options. The first set was the soft. This is the spot, harsher light for stronger shadows and contrasts.

I’ll be trying to schedule another shoot with Nicki Marie, but no whiskey tango foxtrot emails if I can’t.

Amber was nice enough to let me do a speedy shoot before they opened, the place is spectacularness. Thanks David! On the other hand, my struggles to find and book the right model for this shoot? I’ll save that for later. But for now… I’ll just say that Nicki Marie was so hassle-free, on time and perfect for this shoot.
